how I work
I provide a comfortable space in which we can explore the issues troubling you, together, in confidence and without judgment. I will listen attentively to all that you express and we will think about your difficulties together in the context of your unique personal emotional experience.
The therapeutic relationship is central to the healing process. A deeper understanding of your feelings, created together, can help relieve emotional distress and lead to healthier ways of coping with life.
We will arrange an initial meeting during which we can talk through what has brought you to therapy at this time and something of your personal history. Having spent this time together we will have an idea if it feels right to begin working together, and if appropriate, we can discuss the practicalities going forward.
The charge for this initial 50 minute meeting is £50 and is payable in cash on the day. Thereafter, if you wish to proceed, we will arrange to meet for a 50 minute session at a regular time each week. Twice-weekly sessions are available, as are early morning and evening appointments.
I work with individual adults, generally offering open ended counselling. Short-term, focussed work may be considered more appropriate in specific circumstances.
The therapy I offer is usually conducted face-to-face. The environment I provide and the lived dynamic we experience together is fundamental to our work. However, during the Coronavirus outbreak, with the need for social distancing, I am offering all sessions via telephone or video conference call (Zoom and Skype).
